This is aromatherapy. The essential oils are carried up to your senses through the steam. If your steamer puck sits for too long before use (2 months or more), the essential oils loose potency required for a good steam. But! At that moment they enter their second life as a great bath bomb. The essential oils have calmed to not irritate direct contact with the skin and the epsom salt makes for a smooth relaxing bath water.
